One of my goals for this year is to read through the entire Bible. Missing devotions several times already is not helping me reach my goal, but it is my desire. Being faithful in protecting my quiet time is something you could pray about for me.
Anyway, I have been reading through some very familiar stories such as Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Abraham and Sarah, Abraham and Lot, Abraham and Isaac, etc. At the pace I am going, I may not finish reading through the Bible in a year simply because I am stopping to notice phrases and words that I haven't noticed before.
I realize that Abraham and Lot were polar opposites in what choices they made and and both were attracted (like magnets) to something specific.
Abraham - "...the men turned their faces from thence, and went toward Sodom: but Abraham stood yet before the Lord." "And Abraham drew near..." (Gen. 18:22, 23)
Lot - "And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom..." "And while he lingered..."(Gen. 19:1, 16)
Abraham chose to stand before the Lord and even drew near to Him, while Lot chose to sit (to me this indicates Lot was comfortable) at the gate of sin (Sodom) and lingered there when he was asked to leave.
I pray that I will daily make the right choice.
