Just Be Still

God continues to bring one specific illustration to my mind.  Perhaps one of these days it will sink in and I'll get it.  We were blessed with two active children, and I do mean active. :o)  Often my daughter will come to me and ask me to help her, such as fixing something or dressing a doll.  Even while she is standing in front of me, she can't seem to be still and has to be moving constantly.  She doesn't seem to be enjoying the moment, but is more interested in moving on to the next thing.  I have lost track of the number of times I have asked her to be still.

Ugh!  Months ago God brought to my attention that I am not that much different than my daughter.  How often do I keep myself busy with things that don't really matter?  How often do I not enjoy the moment, but focus too much on the problem, the solution, or what needs to get done, when it needs to get done, and how it needs to get done?  How many times has God tried to tell me to be still?

"Be still and know that I am God:
I will be exalted among the heathen,
I will be exalted in the earth."
Ps. 46:10

It's time for me to take heed and be still.  For in being still I may hear His still, small voice and begin to know Him like I should.
